My name is Heather Bartlett. I am married to a wonderful man and have two beautiful boys. I started making cakes just for fun about three years ago. It's something I have always wanted to try and I finally got the opportunity when our boys turned three and one. It turns out I really enjoy it. It's something I can do and stay at home with the boys. I use homemade marshmallow fondant rather than the commercial version because it tastes better. All of my cakes and frostings are made from scratch. I give my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, all the glory for the gifts He has given me.

Fire Helmet and Hose

(14" base) Serves 100. $500. This cake was a big undertaking for me. Major Randy Brown of the Cordele Fire Dept. is retiring, and I had the honor of making the cake for his party. First, let me give credit to Mike Findley. He's a fellow firefighter of Trevor's, and came up with the idea to make the base look like a rolled up hose. Also, the know-how for the structural design of the helmet came from a blog I found while researching and planning. DDPie's Slice at is worth a look. She is amazing. The base is a two-layer almond pound cake. The helmet was baked in a pyrex mixing bowl and two 10" pans. The badge, eagle and all other decorations are made of MMF.The whole cake measured about a foot high and was really heavy. Congratulations, Major Brown! We'll miss you.
